Now we are moving into an exciting new year, let’s banish those dark winter moods with mustard flower essence.
I will be selecting a different flower each month and also an astrological sign too, so look out for next months edition.
The Mustard Flower Essence
Ideal for those dark winter moods
A Mustard Flower Essence type mood can descend unexpectedly, like a gloomy, black cloud, which banishes all hope and light, and there seems to be no reason for it! Nor is there any notion of when it will deign to leave! Sometimes it’s just down to the dark, dank ,cold days of winter, so the essence is useful to have to hand at such times.
The actually underlying reasons can be lurking, deep, in the unknown depths of our mind, just as the Mustard lies dormant in the seed bank, waiting for some disturbance to the soil, which brings them up to the surface where they quickly germinate, if conditions are right.
The solution to this dark mood, lies in the bright yellow , sunshine, flowers of a fields of Mustard plant, brightening and lightening our mood, helping it to gently dissolve.
Just a few days left to Christmas and I thought I couldn’t talk about flowers and Christmas without mentioning the humble Mistletoe.
Mistletoe is a parasitic plant that grows mainly on soft-wood trees such as apple. It just takes a single berry, generally dropped by birds, to land on a tree for Mistletoe to start growing. Its botanical genus is Viscum and it includes at least 30 different species.
There are many myths and legends around Mistletoe, one is Greek and fertility, another Celtic where it was assumed to be an aphrodisiac and also hung as an antidote and protection against evil spirits. Quite why it is used as Christmas decoration is unknown, although kissing below it may be a pleasurable experience….hopefully!
If kissing under the Mistletoe turns your stomach slightly or if all the Christmas preparations are making you anxious, try one of our Flower Essences or Bach Flower remedies as they may just make Christmas the uplifting time that it should be!
Have a wonderful and peaceful Christmas.
Hello – I’m Vivien and I thought that it was high-time that I started to share my knowledge and a small part of my life with the on-line community.
I live and work in a small village just outside Cromer and develop beautiful and healing flower essences and Bach Flower remedies, which is coincidentally where Dr Bach made and researched many of his flower essences. We prepare them all by hand in the traditional way – just as Dr Bach would have done himself.
Another love in my life is bee keeping. I became the proud ‘Mum’ to 10,000 new residents, plus one queen, half way down the garden sometime during June 2009. They made up their numbers very quickly, yes 1000’s more somehow appeared, and I think it was something to do with ‘the birds and the bees!’ As the season progressed they even made lots of honey, enough for me to have a few jars, which I didn’t expect, and enough to keep them going through the winter. We have had lots of fun and games since then, and I now have two hives, so look out for these buzzy updates in the future.
I will not go into any further detail in this first blog as I plan to bring to you regular updates on flowers and plants and how they can be used and what for, as I am passionate about what I do and I would really love to share my knowledge and experience with other people and I hope you will enjoy reading about it too.
